Curriculum

At Church Crookham Junior School, ‘Achievement by All’ lies at the heart of all we do.   Our curriculum is balanced and broadly based.   It consists of all the activities designed or encouraged in the school to develop the intellectual, personal, social and physical activities in the children, where children enjoy their learning.

In order to secure strong outcomes we are very proud to have a values-led and knowledge-engaged curriculum.

Our School Values

Our five core values of kindness, respect, imagining, resilience and reflection have been derived through understanding the needs of our pupils and how we want to secure the best outcomes for them all. They permeate our curriculum and are defined at our school, as:

 Kindness

Knowledge-Engaged

Knowledge is not just about children understanding factual information.  At Church Crookham Junior School knowledge involves:

  • Core knowledge – factual information
  • Personal knowledge – perceptions and feelings
  • Empathetic knowledge – others’ perspectives

A knowledge-engaged curriculum is about helping our children to connect between what is being taught and learnt today and the bigger picture, helping to make links and connections. These connections help children to make sense of their learning and often makes learning more enjoyable
