Attendance

The school academic year commences in September and concludes in July.  Your child is expected to attend for the full academic year.   We are very proud of the overall high attendance we have as a school.

It is the responsibility of the parents to ensure that their child attends school on a full time basis.

A record of attendance will be kept in the form of a register completed twice a day, at the start of each session. Therefore each day at school your child will have two attendance (session) marks.

If your child is unwell you must contact the school before 9:00am. You can report an absence by:

  • leaving a message on the school answer machine at any time
  • emailing adminoffice@crookham-jun.hants.sch.uk
  • phoning the school office

A record of your child's attendance is kept on a secure online record system called Arbor and, parents are invited to download the app and monitor the attendance that has been recorded for their child.   If there are any difficulties with this, parents are welcome to contact our school office.

Too Ill for School?

If you are unsure if your child is too unwell for school, please use the NHS website to check symptoms and advice on whether your child is well enough to attend school.

Term time holiday absence

If you are planning your next annual holiday, please remember you should not take your child on holiday in term time as it is disruptive both to your child's learning and to the school. Wherever possible please arrange for your holidays to coincide with the school holidays.  The changes to the government policy on attendance (from August 2024) means that no holiday should be granted as authorised.

Penalty Notices

Penalty notices for unauthorised term time absences changed in August 2024 and our school policy and practice reflects this.
