RE

At Church Crookham Junior School, we follow the Hampshire syllabus outlined in Living Difference IV. Our curriculum is rooted in our core values of respect, kindness, imagination, resilience, and reflection, which guide our approach to Religious Education and beyond.

2 children learning in Religious Education

Through our RE curriculum, children grow up with an appreciation of world religions and other cultures, developing a deep respect and understanding of the beliefs of others. We encourage our pupils to be inquisitive, make meaningful connections, and ask thoughtful questions to explore the relevance and importance of world religions in today’s world.

Our teaching reinforces the British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs, helping children to become thoughtful, open-minded citizens. These values are woven throughout our curriculum and daily school life, ensuring that every child feels valued and empowered to contribute positively to their community.

Right to Withdraw

We value the inclusive and respectful nature of our Religious Education and collective worship, which are designed to support children’s spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development. Our curriculum follows the Hampshire syllabus Living Difference III, and our assemblies and acts of worship reflect broadly Christian values while respecting the diversity of beliefs within our school community.

However, we recognise that parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education and/or collective worship. This right is established under the Education Act and applies to all maintained schools.

If you wish to exercise this right, we kindly ask that you contact the Headteacher in writing to discuss your request. We are happy to work with families to understand their concerns and explore appropriate arrangements, which may include alternative provision during these sessions.

We encourage open dialogue and aim to ensure that all children feel respected and included, whatever their background or beliefs.
