Our curriculum reflects our core values: pupils show kindness and respect in their online interactions, reflect on their use of technology, demonstrate resilience when solving problems, and use their creativity and imagining skills to design and create digital content.

In digital literacy, pupils learn to find, evaluate and communicate information effectively using a range of digital tools. They develop critical thinking skills to question the reliability of information and understand how digital content is created and shared. As part of this, children are introduced to artificial intelligence, learning how it is used in everyday life, how it makes decisions, and the importance of using it responsibly and ethically.

Within computer science, pupils build computational thinking skills by designing, writing and debugging programmes. They move from understanding sequences to using selection, repetition and variables to solve increasingly complex problems. Through this process, children demonstrate resilience by learning from mistakes, reflection by evaluating and improving their work, and imagining by creating their own programmes and solutions.

Information Technology is used across the curriculum to enhance learning, enabling pupils to present ideas, analyse data and express themselves through multimedia. Children apply their computing skills in meaningful contexts, making links across subjects and developing independence in their learning.

Through online safety, pupils are taught to protect themselves and others online, understanding how to manage digital identities and act with kindness, respect and responsibility in all online interactions. They also explore the opportunities and risks associated with emerging technologies, including AI.

We aim for all pupils to leave Junior School as confident, capable and reflective learners who enjoy computing and understand its relevance in the wider world.
