We are deeply committed to the health, wellbeing, and development of every child in our care. As part of this commitment, we are encouraging families to consider delaying smartphone use for children by signing the Hampshire Parent Pact.

Smartphones can expose children to a range of risks, including:

• Mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and poor sleep
• Exposure to inappropriate content and online predators
• Addiction to social media and screen time, which can impact learning and relationships
• Online bullying and peer pressure in digital spaces

Smartphones weren't designed with children in mind - instead of growing up slowly, children are being pulled into a digital world built to keep them hooked. This impacts on their development mental health and relationships.

By choosing a smartphone-free childhood, we give our children more time to grow, play, and connect in the real world.

Study after study confirms that smartphones, and the social media platforms they unlock, are fundamentally reshaping childhood.

Please note: From 1 January 2026, children in Years 3 to 5 will not be permitted to bring smartphones into school.
